For \(1<p<\infty\), let \({\mathcal M}_p\) denote the Banach algebra of all Fourier multipliers on \(L^p({\mathbb R})\) and \(SAP_p\) denote the closure of the set of all semi-almost periodic functions in the norm of \({\mathcal M}_p\). Suppose that \(\varphi\in{\mathcal M}_p\) is invertible and \(\widetilde{\varphi}(x)=\varphi(-x)\). It is shown that if the Wiener--Hopf operator \(W_{\varphi\tilde{\varphi}^{-1}}\) with symbol \(\varphi\widetilde{\varphi}^{-1}\) is invertible, left-invertible, right-invertible, Fredholm, or normally solvable, then the Wiener--Hopf plus Hankel operator \(WH_\varphi\) with symbol \(\varphi\) has the same respective property. On the basis of this result and a theorem by \textit{R.\,V.\thinspace Duduchava} and \textit{A.\,I.\thinspace Saginashvili} [Differ.\ Equations 17, 207--216 (1981; Zbl 0462.45010)] on Wiener--Hopf operators \(W_\varphi\) with symbols \(\varphi\in SAP_p\), an analogue of the latter theorem for Wiener--Hopf plus Hankel operators \(WH_\varphi\) with symbols \(\varphi\in SAP_p\) is established. An index formula for \(WH_\varphi\) with \(\varphi\in SAP_p\) is also obtained. These results are illustrated by a series of examples and computer-generated plots.
