The author uses intertwining operators among \(\widehat{{\mathfrak {sl}}(3)}\)-modules, following C. Dong and J. Lepowsky, to build short exact sequences of principal subspaces, as defined by A. V. Stoyanovsky and B. L. Feigin, of higher level \(\widehat{{\mathfrak {sl}}(3)}\)-modules. Given the exact sequences, the author deduces a system of \(q\)-difference equations that characterize the graded dimension of the principal subspaces \(W(i\Lambda_0+(k-i)\Lambda_j)\), for \(1\leq i\leq k\), \(j=1,2\), \(\Lambda_0\), \(\Lambda_j\) fundamental weights of \(\widehat{{\mathfrak {sl}}(3)}\). Combining these recursions with the formulas for the graded dimensions of \(W(i\Lambda_0+(k-i)\Lambda_j)\), she also obtains the graded dimensions of the principal subspaces \(W(i\Lambda_1+(k-i)\Lambda_2)\).
