The connection between Lie algebras and combinatorics is well known. Motivated by work of Lepowsky and Primc, the notion of principal subspace \(W(\Lambda)\) of a standard \(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)}\)-module \(L(\Lambda)\) was introduced by Feigin and Stoyanovsky through which they recovered a formula first given by Lepowsky and Primc. The notion of principal subspace of a standard module proved to be a fruitful one and several papers later extended this notion and provided applications to other affine Lie algebras. The author of the paper under review proves the presentation of principal subspaces for all standard modules for \(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(3)}\). This is based on a certain presentation of the principal subspace as a quotient of a completion of the universal enveloping algebra. A conjecture is given for a presentation for all modules of \(A_n^{(1)}\)-type algebra. The method of proof is similar to the one used by other authors in analogous situations. In this case, however, a new technique was developed to overcome extra difficulties. This new method could also be applied to recover uniformly the presentation in earlier cases of type \(A\).
