One calls a topological space \(X\) a \(D\)-space if for every neighbourhood assignment \(x\mapsto U_x\) there is a closed and discrete subset \(D\) of \(X\) such that \(X=\bigcup_{x\in D}U_x\). The principal result of the paper states that a countable product of subparacompact \(\mathcal{D}\mathbb{C}\)-like spaces is a \(D\)-space. A space is \(\mathcal{D}\mathbb{C}\)-like if there is a map \(F\mapsto s(F)\) that assigns a (closed) compact set to each closed set in such a way that \(S(F)\subseteq F\) and whenever \(\langle F_n:n\in\omega\rangle\) is a decreasing sequence of closed sets with \(F_0=X\) and \(s(F_{n-1})\cap F_n=\emptyset\) always then \(\bigcap_NF_n=\emptyset\). In addition it is shown that \(\mathbb{N}^{\omega_1}\) is not a \(D\)-space.
