The group \(\mathrm{Sol}\) is a simple unimodular solvable non-nilpotent Lie group representable as the semi-direct product \(\mathbb R\ltimes\mathbb R^2\) with action \(z.(x,y)=(e^{-z}x,e^zy)\) endowed with a left-invariant Riemannian metric. The authors consider discrete random walks \(X_1,\dots, X_n\) of i.\,i.\,d. random elements in \(\mathrm{Sol}\) having a discrete distribution \(\mu\) with finite first moment. The corresponding harmonic measures have been described by Kaimanovich, and the authors study questions of their absolute continuity or singularity with respect to the Lebesgue measure. In particular, it is shown that both an absolutely continuous and a non-atomic singular harmonic measure can appear for distributions \(\mu\) with finite support. For an arbitrary countable non-abelian subgroup \(\Gamma\) of \(\mathrm{Sol}\), the authors prove the existence of a distribution \(\mu\) on \(\Gamma\) such that the corresponding harmonic measure is non-atomic and singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure.
