On a metric space one can consider finite function systems of Banach contractions, which are defined as Lipschitz-continuous functions with the Lipschitz constant strictly less than \(1\). It is known that on a complete metric space every such system has a unique invariant attractor. Such attractors are called Banach fractals. The notion can be weakened by allowing suitably defined topological contractions, which leads to topological fractals, or strengthened by imposing additional metric conditions, which leads to ultra-fractals. The main result of the paper concerns the characterization of all types of fractals on metrizable topological spaces of zero dimension, i.e., spaces which admit a base of closed and open sets. On such spaces all three notions turn out to be equivalent and fractals can be characterized intrinsically using the concept of scattered height.
