Given \(z\) in \({\mathbb C}^{{\mathbf N}}\) and \(\alpha\) in \({\mathbb N}^{({\mathbf N})}\), the authors use \(z^\alpha\) to denote \(z_1^{\alpha_1}z_2^{\alpha_2}\dots\) and \(|\alpha|\) to denote \(\alpha_1+\alpha_2\dots\). A complex Banach space \(X\) is said to have cotype \(q\) (resp., \(m\)-homogeneous cotype \(q\)) if there is a \(C>0\) such that, given \(x_1,x_2,\dots, x_n\) in \(X\) (resp., a finite set \((x_\alpha)_{|\alpha|=m}\) in \(X\)), \[ \left(\sum_{k=1}^n\|x_k\|^q\right)^{1/q}\leq C\left(\int_{{\mathbb T}^n}\left\| \sum_{k=1}^nx_kz_k\right\|^2\,dz\right)^{1/2}, \] resp., \[ \left(\sum_{|\alpha|=m}\|x_\alpha\|^q\right)^{1/q}\leq C\left(\int_{{\mathbb T}^\infty} \left\|\sum_{|\alpha|=m}x_\alpha z^\alpha\right\|^2\,dz\right)^{1/2}. \] A Banach space \(X\) is said to have hypercontractive homogeneous cotype \(q\) if there is \(C>0\) so that, for every \(m\) in \({\mathbb N}\) and every finite set \((x_\alpha)_{|\alpha|=m}\), \[ \left(\sum_{|\alpha|=m}\|x_\alpha\|^q\right)^{1/q}\leq C^m\left(\int_{{\mathbb T}^ \infty}\left\|\sum_{|\alpha|=m}x_\alpha z^\alpha\right\|^2\,dz\right)^{1/2}. \] It is known that the concepts of cotype and \(m\)-homogeneous cotype are equivalent. The authors conjecture that the concepts of cotype and hypercontractive homogeneous cotype are also equivalent. This conjecture is proved for spaces with local unconditional structure (l.u.st.)\ and for spaces with finite Fourier cotype. Given \(1\leq p\leq \infty\), \(H_p({\mathbb T}^\infty,X)\) (resp., \(H_p^m({\mathbb T} ^\infty,X)\)) denotes those \(f\) in \(L_p({\mathbb T}^\infty,X)\) such that \(\hat f(\alpha):=\int_{{\mathbb T}^\infty}f(z)z^{-\alpha}\,dz=0\) for all \(\alpha\) in \({\mathbb Z}^{{\mathbb N}}\setminus {\mathbb N}_0^{{\mathbb N}}\) (resp., all \(\alpha\) with \(|\alpha|\not=m\)). For spaces with either trivial cotype or spaces with finite hypercontractive homogeneous cotype, the authors determine the set of those \(z\) in \({\mathbb C}^{\mathbf N}\) such that \(\sum_{\alpha\in {\mathbb N}_0^{{\mathbf N}}}\| \hat f(\alpha) z^\alpha\|<\infty\) for all \(f\) in \(H_p({\mathbb T}^\infty,X)\) (resp.\ \(H_p^m( {\mathbb T}^\infty,X)\)). This is then used to determine the \(\ell_1\)-multipliers for the corresponding space of Dirichlet series.
