      The paper considers the existence and multiplicity of a solution for the problem \[ -\Delta_{p(x)}u+[\lambda V(x)+Z(x)]u^{p(x)-1}=f(x,u)\quad\text{in }\mathbb R^N, \quad u\geq 0, \quad u\in W^{1,p(x)}(\mathbb R^N), \] where \(\Delta_{p(x)}\) is the \(p(x)\)-Laplacian operator given by \(\Delta_{p(x)}u=\operatorname{div}(|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2}\nabla u)\). Here \(\lambda >0\) is a parameter, \(p:\mathbb R^N\to \mathbb R\) is a Lipschitz function such that \(1<\inf p \leq \sup p<N\). Further, \(V,Z:\mathbb R^N\to \mathbb R\) are continuous functions with \(V\geq 0\), and \(f:\mathbb R^N\times \mathbb R\to \mathbb R\) is continuous having subcritical growth.
