Periodic solutions to \(p\)-system constructed through Glimm scheme (Q898832)

In this paper, the authors study periodic solutions to the \(p\)-system via a modified Glimm scheme in \(BV\) space. For the periodic initial data \(U_0(x) \in L_\infty\cap BV_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R}),\) there exists an entropy solution \(U(x, t)\) which belongs to \(L_\infty\cap BV_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}_{+})\) has been studied by \textit{H. Frid} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 353, No. 11, 4529--4544 (2001; Zbl 0988.35111)]. The purpose of this paper is to improve this result and get the global existence result for a more general case.
