The main result of this article is as follows. Theorem. Let \((X,d)\) be a complete metric space and \(f\) be contractive map in the following sense: there is a function \(\varphi:[0,+\infty)\rightarrow [0,+\infty)\) such that \(\varphi(t)<t\) and \(\limsup_{s\rightarrow t^+}<t\) for all \(t>0\) and \(d(f(x),f(y))\leq \varphi(d(x,y))\) for all \(x,y\in X\). Then \(f\) has a unique fixed point \(p\) in \(X\). Moreover, applications of the fixed point theorem in fractal spaces are presented.
