The author considers the equation \(Pu=0\) where P is the operator \[ P=D^ 2_ t+a(x,t)D^ 2_ x+b(x,t)D_ x+c(x,t)D_ t+d(x,t). \] He shows that if \(a(x,t)=t^ k(x,t)\) and the magnitude of b(x,t) is bounded by \(ct^{k/2-1}\), then there is uniqueness of the Cauchy problem with respect to the surface \(t=0\).
