The authors consider a finite system of convolution equations. By means of the realization theory developed by the first author in some previous papers, a triple of operators called realization triple is attached to the system. The authors use these operators to introduce the so called indicator of the system, an operator which occurs in the main result of the paper which proves that the existence and uniqueness of the solution is equivalent to the invertibility of the indicator. The expression of the solution is also given.
