Let V be a vector space of countable dimension over a finite field. Fix a basis \(x_ 1,x_ 2,..\). of V and put \(V_ n=<x_ 1,...,x_ n>\). Put \(GL_ n(V)=\{g\in GL(V)|\) \(gV_ n=V_ n\) and \(gx_ k=x_ k\) for \(k>n\}\). Denote by \({\mathfrak P}\) the collection of all Sylow p-subgroups of GL(V) which are unions \(P_{n_ 1}\subset P_{n_ 2}\subset..\). of some Sylow p-subgroups \(P_{n_ i}\) of \(GL(V_{n_ i})\), \(i=1,2,...\). The main result is Theorem. Let R,S\(\in {\mathfrak P}\) be Sylow p-subgroups of GL(V). Suppose that \(R\cong S\). Then there exists an isomorphism f: \(R\to S\) such that the image of every transvection is a transvection.
