A survey of queueing theory (Q921730)

This paper presents a brief survey of research in the field of queueing theory carried out in the People's Republic of China from the late fifties until the present. Special attention is given to transient behaviour of queueing systems and heavy-traffic results. Interestingly, several results which we (in the West) consider classical and contribute to European and American authors, appear to have been found independently by Chinese researchers around the same time. The paper concludes with a description of some applications of queueing theory in China.
