The author presents a nice and readable homotopy-theoretic proof of the following important theorem of \textit{Jens Franke} [Uniqueness theorems for certain triangulated categories possessing an Adams spectral sequence, \url{http://www.math.uiuc.edu/K-theory/0139/} (1996)]: The homotopy category of \(E(1)\)-local spectra is equivalent to the derived category of twisted chain complexes over an abelian category B (B is equivalent to a suitable subcategory of \(E(1)_*E(1)\) comodules.) It is also shown that the above equivalence gives an exotic model for \(E(1)\)-local spectra. That is, while the homotopy categories of the chain complexes and \(E(1)\)-local spectra are equivalent as categories, there is no Quillen equivalence between them.
