    The author recalls the definitions of some spaces of complex-valued functions defined on \(\mathbb R^{n}\), namely, the space BMO of functions with bounded mean oscillation, \(\mathcal Q_{\alpha}\), \(\mathcal L_{2,\alpha},\) \(\dot L^{2}_{\alpha}\), \(\mathcal Q^{-1} _{\alpha;T}\), and study some relations between \(\mathcal Q_{\alpha}\) and the other spaces. For \(\alpha\in\mathbb R, f\in \mathcal S^{\prime}(\mathcal R^{n})\), modulo polynomials, \((-\Delta)^{-\frac{ \alpha}{2}}f=\mathcal F^{-1}\left(| \xi| ^{-\alpha}\hat f(\xi)\right)=I_{\alpha }f\) [cf. \textit{R. S. Strichartz}, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 29, 539--558 (1980; Zbl 0437.46028)]. From now on \(\alpha \in (0,1).\) It is established that \(\mathcal Q_{\alpha}=(-\Delta)^{-\frac{\alpha}{2}} \mathcal L_{2,n-2\alpha},\overset{.}{L}^{2}_{\alpha}=(-\Delta)^{-\frac{\alpha}{2}}L^{2},\) \(\mathcal Q^{-1}_{\alpha;\infty}=\nabla\overset{.}{~}(\mathcal Q_{\alpha})^{n}.\) Sharp estimates for the norms of the imbeddings \(\mathcal Q_{\alpha}\hookrightarrow BMO\), and \(\overset{.}{L}_{\alpha}^{2}\hookrightarrow L^{\frac{2n}{n-2\alpha}}\), are obtained. The Cauchy problem for the incompressible Navier-Stokes system on \(\mathbb R^{1+n}_{+}=(0,\infty)\times \mathbb R^{n}\): \[ (1)\qquad\left\{ \begin{aligned} \partial_t u-\Delta u+(u\overset{.}{~}\nabla)u-\nabla p=0\\ \nabla\overset{.}{~}u=0\\ u| _{t=0}=a\text{ in }\mathbb R^{n} \end{aligned} \right. \] is considered. Let \(X_{\alpha,T},T\in (0,\infty)\), be the space of functions \(f\) such that \[ \underset{t\in(0,T)}{\sup }\sqrt t| | g(t,\overset{.}{~})| | _{L^{\infty}}+ \underset{x\in\mathbb R^{n},r^{2}\in(0,T)}{\sup} \left(r^{2\alpha-n}\int_0^{r^2}\int_{| y-x| <r}| g(t,y)| ^2t^{-\alpha}dy dt\right) ^{\frac{1}{2}}<\infty. \] The existence and the uniqueness of a small mild solution \(u\in (X_{\alpha,T})^{n}\) to (1) are studied when \(\nabla \overset{.}{~} a=0\) and \(||a||_{(\mathcal Q_{\alpha;T}^{-1})^{n}}\) is small.
