A parabolic Raynaud bundle on a smooth projective complex curve \(X\) is a parabolic vector bundle \(R_{r,d,*}\) on \(X\) with parabolic structure over a finite set \(S\) of distinct points of \(X\), all parabolic weights in \(\frac{1}{N}{\mathbb Z}, N\geq 2\) a fixed integer, and satisfying the following property. If \(E_*\) is a parabolic vector bundle on \(X\) of rank \(r\), parabolic degree \(d\), with parabolic points contained in \(S\) and all weights in \(\frac{1}{N}{\mathbb Z}\), then \(E_*\) is parabolic semistable if and only if \(R_{r,d,*}\) has no nonzero parabolic homomorphism to \(E_*\). The authors prove the existence of parabolic Raynaud bundles for all \(r,d\). A similar result for vector bundles (without parabolic structures) was proved by \textit{M. Raynaud} [Bull. Soc. Math. France 110, 103--125 (1982; Zbl 0505.14011)] in case \(r=2, d=2(g(X)-1)\) and by \textit{G. Hein} [Raynaud vector bundles, \url{arXiv:0706.3970}; Math. Z. 257, No. 3, 597--611 (2007; Zbl 1126.14043)] in the general case.
