Consider the compound oscillator \[ \ddot x+\omega^2_0 x+ 2\mu\varepsilon(1- x^2)\dot x+ \varepsilon\alpha x^3+\varepsilon f_1\cos(\omega_1 t+\theta_0)x=\varepsilon f_2\cos \omega_2 t,\tag{\(*\)} \] which takes into acocunt the initial phase difference \(\theta_0\) between the parametric and the external excitation. \(\varepsilon\) is a small parameter. In the resonance case \(\omega_1= 2\omega_0+ \varepsilon\delta_1\), \(\omega_2= {1\over 2}\omega_1\), the authors study numerically the influence of \(\theta_0\) and \(f_1\) on the dynamics of \((*)\) for fixed \(\omega_0\), \(\alpha\), \(\mu\), \(\delta_1\), \(\varepsilon\) and \(f_2\). They find period-doubling bifurcations leading to different strange attractors.
