Qualitative behavior of some max-type difference equations (Q935654)

The authors investigate the boundedness and the periodicity character of solutions of the difference equation: \[ x_{n+1}= \max\Biggl\{{1\over x_n}, {A^1_n\over x_{n-1}}, {A^2_n\over x_{n-2}},\dots, {A^k_n\over x_{n-k}}\Biggr\},\quad n= 0,1,\dots, \] where \(\{A^i_n\}^\infty_{n=0}\) are sequences of positive numbers and \(A^i_n\in (0,1]\) for all \(n= 1,2,\dots\) and \(i= 1,2,\dots, k\). The solutions of the particular form \[ x_{n+1}= \max\Biggl\{{1\over x_{n-p}}, {1\over x_{n-q}}\Biggr\},\quad n= 0,2,\dots, \] where \(p\) and \(q\) are nonnegative integer numbers are also discussed.
