A host algebra of a topological group \(G\) is a \(C^*\)-algebra, whose representations are in one-to-one correspondence with certain continuous unitary representations of \(G\). In the paper under review, the author discusses a construction of host algebras based on holomorphic extensions of unitary representations of a Lie group \(G\) to a certain complex involutive semigroup \(S\). Any locally bounded absolute value \(\alpha\) on \(S\) leads in a natural way to a \(C^*\)-algebra \(C^*(S,\alpha)\). The main result of the paper asserts that, under some natural restrictions, the algebra \(C^*(S,\alpha)\) is a host algebra for \(G\). After this main result the author describes which classes of representations of \(G\) are hosted by such \(C^*\)-algebras. In the abelian case, when the Lie group \(G\) is a locally convex space \(V\) and the semigroup \(S\) is the tube \(V+iW\), where \(W\subset V\) is an open cone, it turns out that it is sufficient to consider absolute values of the form \(\alpha(a+ib)=e^{-\mathrm{inf}(C,b)}\), where \(C\subset V'\) is a weak-\(*\)-closed convex subset. It is shown that in this case \(C^*(S,\alpha)\cong C_0(C)\) is a host algebra of \(V\) hosting precisely all unitary representations of \(V\), arising from spectral measures on \(C\). In the finite dimensional case the author gives a short and direct proof for the fact that any host algebra of \(G\) coming from a host semigroup is a quotient of the group \(C^*\)-algebra \(C^*(G)\).
