The GSV-index of a vector field, tangent to a complex isolated complete intersection singularity, was defined in [\textit{X. Gomez-Mont, J. A. Seade} and \textit{A. Verjovsky}, Math. Ann. 291, No. 4, 737--752 (1991; Zbl 0725.32012)] and [\textit{J. A. Seade} and \textit{T. Suwa}, Math. Ann. 304, No. 4, 621--634 (1996; Zbl 0853.32040)] as a natural generalization of the classical Poincaré-Hopf index of a vector field on a smooth manifold. The authors compute the GSV-index of a holomorphic vector field in terms of local linear algebra, which is the long-awaited generalization of [\textit{X. Gomez-Mont}, J. Algebr. Geom. 7, No. 4, 731--752 (1998; Zbl 0956.32029)].
