Complicial sets are simplicial sets equipped with a distinguished set of thin simplexes satisfying a certain type of thin horn filler condition. The theory of weak complicial sets here developped provides a common generalization of (strict) \(\omega\)-categories, Kan complexes and Joyal's quasi-categories. It admits a rich homotopy theory having a Quillen model structure whose fibrant objects are the weak complicial sets. As a consequence, an independent construction of a Joyal's model structure on simplicial sets is provided whose fibrant objects are the quasi-categories.
