The paper under review studies terminal weak \(Q\)-Fano 3-folds, say \(X\). This roughly means that \(X\) has good singularities and the anticanonical class is nef and big. These varieties are crucial in Minimal Model Theory and form a bounded family. The paper under review addresses many numerical question concerning invariants of those. In particular non vanishing results for section of \(| -6K_X| \) and \(| -8K_X| \) are proved together with an optimal bound on the anticanonical self intersection, \(-K_X^3\). The main technique is a sharp use of Reid's basket of singularities method, [\textit{M. Reid}, Young person's guide to canonical singularities. Algebraic geometry, Proc. Summer Res. Inst., Brunswick/Maine 1985, part 1, Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 46, 345--414 (1987; Zbl 0634.14003)]. With this the authors are able to limit the possible singularities of the 3-fold and then prove the main statements.
