For a locally compact Polish (i.e., separable completely metrizable) space~\(X\) and a non-discrete Polish ANR group~\(G\) the paper under review studies the topological group \(C(X,G)\) of all continuous maps from~\(X\) to~\(G\) and the subgroup~\(C_c(X,G)\) of all maps with compact support. If~\(X\) is compact and infinite then \(C(X,G)\) is an \(l_2\)-manifold by \textit{K. Sakai} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 103, No.~3, 956--960 (1988; Zbl 0681.58010)]. In the present article it is shown that if \(X\) is non-compact and not end-discrete then \(C_c(X,G)\) is an \((\mathbb{R}^\infty\times l_2)\)-manifold, and that the pair \((C(X,G),C_c(X,G))\) is locally homeomorphic to the pair of the box and the small box powers of~\(l_2\).
