For a smooth scheme \(X\) in characteristic \(p\), denote by \(D\) its sheaf of differential operators. \textit{A. Ogus} and \textit{V. Vologodsky} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 106, 1--138 (2007; Zbl 1140.14007)] have defined an equivalence between \(D\)-modules and Higgs sheaves. One direction is via Frobenius pullback. In the paper under review, the Frobenius is replaced by its \((m+1)\)st iterate, and \(D\) by a \(D_m\) defined by \textit{P. Berthelot} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér., IV. Sér. 29, 185--272 (1996; Zbl 0886.14004)]. The equivalence depends on the choice of a lift to \(p^2\) of the Frobenius iterate (satisfying some extra condition) and changing this lift amounts to a twisting operation. Many proofs use explicit computations in local coordinates. Reviewer's remark: Unfortunately, some formulas contain little mistakes (like Lemma 4.3) which, however, do not seem to matter for the main result.
