A class of algebras of the same type is called a quasivariety if it can be axiomatized by quasi-identities. A class of algebras of a given (not necessarily finitary) type is called a prevariety if it is closed under ISP. In the paper under review, the coproduct of algebras in a variety or quasivariety or prevariety, free algebras on \(n\) generators containing a subalgebra free on more than \(n\) generators, the amalgamation property, the number of algebras needed to generate a quasivariety or prevariety, and the symmetric group on an infinite set are investigated.
