The full set of the governing equations for the dynamics of charged particle fluids in an electromagnetic field may be solved numerically by the source-term adaptation and two-fluid extension of the second order high resolution central scheme described by \textit{J. Balbás}, \textit{E. Tadmor} and \textit{C.-C. Wu} [J. Comput. Phys. 201, No. 1, 261--285 (2004; Zbl 1195.76304)]. The main effort is to model nonlinear wave structures propagating in two dimensions. The use of free-flow boundary conditions is outlined to obtain stable wave structures over sufficiently long modelling times. To illustrate the results the formation and evolution of shock-like and soliton structures of the magnetosonic mode is outlined.
