    This paper is concerned with the asymptotic properties of difference equations of the form \[ \Delta ^{3}x(n)+p(n)f( x( n-\tau)) =0,\quad n\in \{0,1,2,\dots\}\backslash \{n_{0},n_{1},n_{2},\dots\}, \] \[ \Delta ^{i}x(n_{k})=g_{i,k}( \Delta ^{i}x( n_{k}-1)) ,\quad i=0,1,2;\;k=1,2,3,\dots, \] where \(\{n_{0},n_{1},n_{2},\dots\}\) is a sequence of positive integers divergent to \(+\infty ,\) \(\{ p(n)\} \) is a nontrivial and nonnegative sequence, \(f\) is a real continuous function on \(\mathbb R\) such that \( f(u)/u\geq \varepsilon _{0}>0\) for \(u\neq 0,\) and each \(g_{i,k}\) is continuous on \(\mathbb R\) such that there are \(a_{i,k}\) and \(b_{i,k}\) satisfying \( 0<a_{i,k}\leq g_{i,k}(u)/u\leq b_{i,k}\) for \(u\neq 0.\) Conditions are established such that every or every bounded solution either oscillates or tends to zero.
