The paper deals with ring extensions \(\Gamma\subset U\) of an integral domain \(\Gamma\), in particular, a general class of subrings of invariants in twisted Galois semigroup rings which the authors call Galois orders. The study of such Galois orders is inspired by the authors' previous work on Harish-Chandra categories [Fibers of characters in Harish-Chandra categories (\url{arXiv:math/0610071})]. Examples of Galois orders in the authors' sense are generalized Weyl algebras over \(\Gamma\) with an automorphism of infinite order, the universal enveloping algebra of \(\mathfrak{gl}_n\) over its Gelfand-Tsetlin subalgebra, and corresponding shifted Yangians and finite \(W\)-algebras.
