The authors deal with the following problem: find \(u\in K\) such that \[ \int_\Omega\langle J(\nabla u),\nabla(v- u)\rangle dx+ \int_\Omega g(x,u,\lambda)(v- u)\,dx\geq 0\text{ for all }v\in K,\tag{1} \] where \(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle\) is the inner product in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(\Omega\) is an open bounded subset of \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(g\) is a real function defined on \(\Omega\times \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}\), \(\lambda\) is a real parameter, and \[ K= \{u\in W^{1,p}(\Omega)\mid u(x)\geq \psi(x),\text{ a.e. on }\Omega\},\;1< p< N,\;\psi\in W^{1,p}(\Omega). \] Problem (1) represents a class of variational inequalities involving the \(p\)-Laplacian type operator \(\text{div\,}J(\nabla u)\). This paper is devoted to the existence of solutions for a class of noncoercive variational inequalities of the form (1). To this end, the author uses equilibrium problems theory an recession analysis.
