A formula for the determinant of the Laplacian on an arbitrary compact polyhedral surface of genus one is deduced (generalization of the Ray-Singer result for a flat torus). A special case of flat conical metrics given by the modulus of a meromorphic quadratic differential on an elliptic surface is considered. A new proof of Troyanov's theorem [see \textit{M. Troyanov}, Enseign. Math., II. Sér. 32, 79--94 (1986; Zbl 0611.53035); \textit{P. G. Zograf} and \textit{L. A. Takhtadzhyan}, Usp. Mat. Nauk 42, No. 6, 133--150 (1987; Zbl 0659.58043)] is given.
