Local integral transforms and global spectral decomposition

From MaRDI portal

Let \(F\) denote a local field, Archimedean or non-Archimedean, and let \(G = \mathrm{PGL}_2(F)\). Let \(h\) denote the local version of the weight function in the shifted convolution problem, obtained using smooth vectors in the Whittaker model for \(G\). Let \(h^{\vee}\) stand for the local weight which arises naturally in the spectral theory approach to the shifted convolution problem.\N\NThe first main result in the paper under the review is an explicit description of the integral transform \(h \mapsto h^{\vee}\), and inversion formula, in terms of \(\gamma\)-factors.\N\NFor \(y \in F^{\times}\) and character \(\chi\) of \(F^{\times}\), let \N\[\NH(y, x) = \int_{F^{\times}} h(z, yz) \chi(z) d^{\times}z.\N\]\NFor unitary generic irreducible representation \(\pi\) of \(G\) and unitary character \(\chi\) of \(F^{\times}\), let \N\[\Nh^{\sharp}(\pi, \chi) = \int_{F^{\times}} h^{\vee}(\pi, z) \chi(z) d^{\times}z.\N\]\NThe second main result of the paper is an explicit description of local transforms relating functions \(H\) and \(h^{\sharp}\).\N\NThis enables the authors to study the global spectral decomposition and to provide explicit spectral decompositions of the shifted convolution problem and the second moment of the automorphic \(L\)-functions for Maass forms.
