Lyashko-Looijenga morphisms and primitive factorizations of Coxeter elements

From MaRDI portal

This paper investigates the enumeration and structural properties of primitive factorizations of Coxeter elements in irreducible, well-generated, complex reflection groups. The study builds upon \textit{D. Bessis}' interpretation of the noncrossing lattice \(\mathrm{NC}(W)\) as a geometric object associated with the Lyashko-Looijenga (LL) morphism [Ann. Math. (2) 181, No. 3, 809--904 (2015; Zbl 1372.20036)]. A key aspect of this work is the application of the trivialization theorem to analyze finer factorizations of Coxeter elements and their connection to the LL map.\N\NThe main result (Theorem 5.10) provides an explicit enumeration formula for primitive factorizations of a Coxeter element \(c\), given by\N\[\N\text{Fact}_W(Z) = \frac{h^k \cdot k!}{ [N_W(Z) : W_Z]},\N\]\Nwhere \(Z\) is a flat in the reflection arrangement of \(W\), \(N_W(Z)\) and \(W_Z\) are the setwise and pointwise stabilizers of \(Z\) and \(h\) is the Coxeter number of \(W\). The formula extends previous results by encompassing factorizations beyond codimension 2 flats, providing a unified approach applicable to a broader class of complex reflection groups.\N\NThe proof of Theorem 5.10 involves lifting the LL morphism to a decorated configuration space and using the trivialization theorem to relate its degree with the enumeration of primitive factorizations. This approach yields an explicit ramification formula (Theorem 5.13), linking Coxeter numbers of parabolic subgroups to the global Coxeter number of \(W\).
