Measurable products of modules
Large cardinals (03E55) Other special types of modules and ideals in commutative rings (13C13) Other classes of modules and ideals in associative algebras (16D80) Torsion-free groups, infinite rank (20K20) Direct sums, direct products, etc. for abelian groups (20K25) Automorphisms, homomorphisms, endomorphisms, etc. for abelian groups (20K30)
Let \(X=\prod_{I}G_ i\) be the direct product of R-modules \(G_ i\), \(i\in I\). A number of theorems concerning X require the index set I to be of non-measurable cardinality (e.g. in the context of slender groups and modules). The author removes this requirement and instead imposes restrictions on the cardinalities of the \(G_ i\) and the number of different isomorphism classes of \(G_ i\) involved.
