Microstructure and properties of materials. Vol. 2
This book consists of six main chapters related to microstructure and properties of materials. They are summarized as follows:NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEChapter 1. Microstructure and mechanical properties of titanium alloys. The material considers the crystal structure, thermomechanical processes and microstructures, and basic correlations between microstructures and mechanical properties for titanium alloys. Chapter 2. Interfacial structures and mechanical properties of titanium aluminides. This chapter discusses phase stability, bulk and defect properties of the titanium aluminides, deformation of single phases, interfacial structures and energies, mechanical properties of PST crystals, and the fracture behavior of titanium aluminides. Chapter 3. Iron aluminides. This part studies the dislocation and antiphase boundaries and environmental resistance of \(\text{Fe}_3\) and Fe-Al alloys. Chapter 4. Iron and steels. The chapter describes the methodology of material science, steels, pure iron, phase diagrams, grain boundary segregation, phase transformation and heat treatment, deformation and re-crystalization strength, ductility and strengthening work hardening, ductility and deformability, toughness and toughening. Chapter 5. Synthesis and soft magnetic properties of Fe-based bulk amorphous alloys. The material contains the history of Fe-based amorphous alloys, formation and mechanical properties of bulk amorphous alloys, formation of Fe-based thick amorphous ribbons, and formation of co-based amorphous alloys. Chapter 6: Nanocrystalline materials. The topics of this final chapter cover the preparation of nanocrystalline material, their classification, structures of such materials, stability, particulate consolidation while maintaining a nano-scale microstructure, the physical and mechanical properties of nanoscale materials, their electrical, magnetic, optical and semi-conductor properties, chemical properties, and various applications of these materials.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is well-organized and may find many readers among the research workers in the area of microstructural properties of materials. I, therefore, strongly recommend it to graduate students, scientists, and to the institute libraries.
