Minkowski problems of centro-section measures
This paper introduces and studies a new family of geometric measures, termed centro-section measures, within the framework of affine convex geometry. For a convex body \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) containing the origin in its interior, parameters \(m\in\{1,\dots,n\}\), and \(q\in\mathbb{R}\), the centro-section measure \(\widetilde{A}_{m,q}(K,\cdot)\) is defined on the unit sphere. The definition involves the radial function of \(K\), the reverse radial Gauss image, and the dual Radon transform applied to the \(q\)-th power of the \(m\)-dimensional volumes of sections of \(K\) with \(m\)-dimensional subspaces. These measures unify and generalize several known geometric measures, including the dual curvature measures (\(q=1\)) and the recently introduced affine dual curvature measures (\(q=n\)), as well as providing a connection to Aleksandrov's integral curvature (\(q=0\) for \(m=1\)) and intersection bodies (\(m=n-1, q=n\)).\N\NThe authors establish a variational formula showing that the centro-section measures arise as the first variation of the \(q\)-th moment of random sections, denoted \(\widetilde{\Psi}_{m,q}(K)\). This naturally leads to the formulation of the Minkowski problem for these measures: Given a finite even Borel measure \(\mu\) on \(S^{n-1}\), find necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an origin-symmetric convex body \(K\) such that \(\widetilde{A}_{m,q}(K,\cdot)=\mu\).\N\NFor the general case with \(0\le q\le n\), the authors demonstrate that the even Minkowski problem for \(\widetilde{A}_{m,q}\) can be solved when the given measure satisfies the classical strict subspace concentration inequality. This is achieved by reformulating the problem as a maximization problem for a homogeneous functional and employing a compactness argument based on John's theorem and an entropy estimate. The result extends previous work on the affine dual Minkowski problem.\N\NThe paper further refines this result for the special case \(m=n-1\), which is intimately connected to intersection bodies. By establishing a sharp estimate for the centro-section integral \(\widetilde{\Psi}_{n-1,q}\) of an ellipsoid, the authors are able to solve the Minkowski problem for \(\widetilde{A}_{n-1,q}\) under a weaker, refined subspace concentration condition. This condition depends explicitly on the parameter \(q\) and is shown to be sufficient for the existence of a solution. The work provides a unified treatment of a family of Minkowski problems, linking dual curvature measures, their affine counterparts, and integral geometry.
