Multifractal geometry

From MaRDI portal

This is a nice survey paper on multifractal analysis of measures. The author first reviews the definitions of various multifractal formalisms such as the fine multifractal formalism, the coarse multifractal formalism, the box (Legendre) multifractal formalism. Then, he describes the relationship between these multifractal spectra. In particular, he shows that the Hausdorff and packing fine spectra are bounded above by the lower and upper box (Legendre) multifractal spectra, respectively. In the major part of the paper, the author summarizes his results on multrifractal geometry of general geometric constructions in the Euclidean space such as product measures, slices of measures and general intersections of measures. These results are completely analogous to the fractal geometry for product sets, for slices of sets, and for general intersections of sets. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0932.00044].
