On finite-dimensional maps

Abstract: Let be a perfect surjective map of metrizable spaces. It is shown that if is a -space (resp., and ), then the function space (resp., ) equipped with the source limitation topology contains a dense -set such that embeds into (resp., into ) for every . Some applications of this result are also given.
