On the linearization of semilinear wave equations
From MaRDI portal
For the nonlinear wave equation \(u_{tt}-u_{xx}=f(u,u_t,u_x)\) on the base of equivalence transformations and differential invariants the authors characterize a subclass of linearizable equations. For sufficiently general form of the nonlinearity some classes of general solutions are found. Reviewer's remark: Close results for nonlinear diffusion equations are obtained in the article [\textit{M. Torrisi, R. Tracinà}, J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 38, No. 34, 7519--7526 (2005; Zbl 1078.35051)].
