On the tangential gradient of the kernel of the double layer potential

From MaRDI portal

Let \(\{a_{ij}\}_{1\leq i, j\leq N}\) be a symmetric positive definite matrix and \(a_i\in \mathbb{R}\), \(1\leq i\leq N\). This article discusses the properties of the tangential gradient of the kernel of the double-layer potential associated with the fundamental solution corresponding to the second-order differential operator \N\[P[u]=\sum_{1\leq i, j\leq N} \partial_i(a_{ij}\partial_j u)+\sum_{1\leq i\leq N} a_i\partial_i u +au.\] Given a \(C^{1,1}\) bounded domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N\), it is shown that the double-layer potential acts continuously from \(C^{0, \beta}(\partial\Omega)\) into \(C^{1, \beta}(\partial\Omega)\) and from from \(C^{0, 1}(\partial\Omega)\) into \(C^{1, \omega(\cdot)}(\partial\Omega)\), for some positive function \(\omega\).
