On weakly \(CSS\)-subgroups of finite groups

Let \(G\) be a finite group. The paper introduces the notion of a weakly CSS-subgroup: a subgroup \(A\) of \(G\) is weakly CSS in \(G\) if there exists a subgroup \(C\) of \(G\) such that \(G=AC\) and \(A\cap C\) is SS-quasinormal in \(G\). This concept generalizes CSS-subgroups, \(c\)-supplemented subgroups and SS-quasinormal subgroups.\N\NOne of the main results shows that if \(p\) is the smallest prime divisor of \(|G|\), \(P\in \mathrm{Syl}_p(G)\), every maximal subgroup of \(P\) is weakly CSS in \(N_G(P)\) and \(P'\) is normal in \(G\), then \(G\) is \(p\)-nilpotent. The paper also proves that if for every Sylow subgroup \(P\) of \(G\) all maximal subgroups of \(P\) are weakly CSS in \(N_G(P)\) and \(P'\) is normal in \(G\), then \(G\) is supersolvable. More generally, if \(\mathfrak F\) is a saturated formation containing the class of all supersolvable groups, \(A\) is a normal subgroup of \(G\) with \(G/A\in\mathfrak F\) and for every prime \(p\) dividing \(|A|\) every maximal subgroup of a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of \(A\) is weakly CSS in its normalizer and has derived subgroup normal in \(G\), then \(G\in\mathfrak F\).
