Periodic and boundary value problems for second order differential equations

From MaRDI portal

The authors use the method of upper and lower solutions to prove the existence of extremal solutions in a sector to the nonlinear second-order differential equation \[ x(t)=f(t,x(t),x'(t)), \quad\text{a.e. } t\in [0,T]. \] Boundary conditions under consideration are both of Sturm-Liouville and periodic type. The nonlinearity is assumed to satisfy the Carathéodory conditions. Properties of the set of solutions are also included, generalizing previous results.
