Prolegomena to Boolean valued analysis: Boolean toposes

From MaRDI portal

This paper is a hasty review of Boolean topos as the categorical foundation of Boolean valued analysis, in which the authors are specialized. The construction of the paper is [\S 1 categories], [\S 2 universal constructions], [\S 3 functors], [\S 4 toposes], [\S 5 the logic of a topos], [\S 6 Boolean toposes] and [\S 7 comments on each section]. The following theorem is quoted as the main theorem of topos theory.\N\NTheorem. Given a topos \(\mathcal{E}\)\ and a \(\mathcal{E}\)-object \(a\), the relative category \(\mathcal{E}^{a}\)\ is a topos. Furthermore, if \(f:a\rightarrow b\)\ is a \(\mathcal{E}\)-morphism, then the inverse image functor \(f^{\ast} :\mathcal{E}^{b}\rightarrow\mathcal{E}^{a}\)\ has left adjoint and right adjoint.
