Intersection Whitehead torsion and the s-cobordism theorem for pseudomanifolds

The s-cobordism theorem for manifolds states that an h-cobordism \((W,M_ 0,M_ 1)\) is a product only if the Whitehead torsion \((W,M_ 0)\) equals zero. In this paper we generalize this theorem to a class of singular spaces, i.e. pseudomanifolds using the intersection Whitehead torsion. An h-cobordism \((V,X_ 0,X_ 1)\) is a product only if the intersection Whitehead torsion \((V,X_ 0)\) equals zero.
