On McConnell's inequality for functionals of subharmonic functions
\textit{T. R. McConnell} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 33, 289-303 (1984; Zbl 0508.31005)] showed that if u(x,t) is a non-negative subharmonic function defined on \({\mathbb{R}}_+^{n+1}=\{(x,t):\quad x\in {\mathbb{R}}^ n,\quad t>0\},\) and if \[ N(x)=\sup \{u(y,t):\quad (y,t)\in \Gamma_ 1(x)\}\quad and\quad S(x)=\iint_{(y,t)\in \Gamma_ 1(x)}t^{1-n}\Delta u(x,t), \] where \(\Gamma_{\alpha}(x)=\{(y,t)\in {\mathbb{R}}_+^{n+1}:\) \(\| x- y\| <\alpha t\}\), then there are constants \(c(p,n)<+\infty\) and \(p(n)>0\) for which (*) \(\| S\|_{L^ p}=c(p,n)\| N\|_{L^ p}\) for all p with either \(0<p<p(n)\) or \(1\leq p<+\infty\). The author proves (*) for all \(p\in]0,\infty [\), using an extension of the method in an earlier paper by the author and \textit{T. Murai} [Stud. Math. 83, 251-262 (1986).].
