Let \(x\in\mathbb{R}^ k\), \(q\in\mathbb{R}^ k\), and \(| q|=\max\{| q_ i|:1\leq i\leq k\}\). The paper is concerned with the set of solutions of the strong diophantine inequality \(| q\cdot x|<\psi(| q|)\) where the points \(x\) are restricted to lie on a smooth submanifold \(M\). If some conditions on the curvature are satisfied theorems of Khintchine-type can be obtained. The Hausdorff dimension of the set of points satisfying \(| q\cdot x|<| q|^{-\nu}, \nu>k-1\), infinitely often is calculated.
