An approximate quadrature formula.
Die Formel \[ \int_{-1}^1 \int_{-1}^1 f(x, y) dxdy=\frac {40}{49} \left\{ f\left( \sqrt{\frac 7{15}}, 0\right)+f\left( 0,\sqrt{\frac7{15}}\right) + f\left( -\frac 7{15},0 \right) + f\left( 0, -\sqrt{\frac 7{15}} \right) \right\} \] \[ \frac 9{49} \left\{ f\left( \sqrt{\frac 79}, \sqrt{\frac 79} \right) + f \left(\sqrt{\frac 79}, - \sqrt{\frac 79} \right) + f\left( - \sqrt{\frac 79} , \sqrt{\frac 79}\right) + f \left( - \sqrt{\frac 79}, - \sqrt{\frac 79} \right) \right\} \] gibt den genauen Wert des Doppelintegrals, wenn \(f (x, y)\) ein Polynom höchstens vom fünften Grade in \(x, y\) ist, sonst aber einen angenäherten Wert des Integrales. Wie weit die Annäherung geht, wird an den Doppelintegralen \[ I_1 = \int_0^1 \int_0^1 \frac {dx dy }{\sqrt {3-x^2 - y^2}},\quad I_2 = \int_0^1 \int_0^1 \frac {dxdy}{\sqrt{2-x^2 - y^2}} \] gezeigt. \(I_1\) ist \(= \frac 12 \pi (1 - 1/\sqrt 3) = \text{0,6638}, \) während die Annäherungsformel 0,6641 ergibt. \(I_2 = \frac 12 \pi (1 - 1/\sqrt 2)= \text{0,9202}, \) die Annäherungsformel liefert 0,9262.
