The authors characterize the \(k_{\omega}\)-spaces \(X\) such that the free topological semilattice \({\mathcal F}_{\infty}(X)\) over \(X\) is homeomorphic to either \({\mathbb R}^{\infty}=\underrightarrow{\lim} {\mathbb R}^{n}\) or \(Q^{\infty}=\underrightarrow{\lim} Q^{n}\), where \(Q=[0,1]^{\omega}\) is the Hilbert cube. It is shown that \({\mathcal F}_{\infty}(X)\) is homeomorphic to \({\mathbb R}^{\infty}\) iff the \(k_{\omega}\)-space \(X\) is connected, has no isolated points and every compact subset of \(X\) lies in a finite-dimensional locally connected compact metrizable subspace of \(X\). Similarly, \({\mathcal F}_{\infty}(X)\cong Q^{\infty}\) iff \(X\) is connected and every compact subset of \(X\) lies in a \(Q\)-manifold \(M\subseteq X\).
