Abstract: The micro-support of sheaves is a tool to describe local propagation results. A natural problem is then to give sufficient conditions to get global propagation results from the knowledge of the micro-support. This is the aim of this paper. As an application, we consider the problem of global existence for solutions to hyperbolic systems (in the hyperfunction and distribution case), along the lines of Leray. Causal manifolds, and in particular homogeneous causal manifolds as considered by Faraut et al., give examples of manifolds to which our results apply.

This article deals with the problem of global existence for solutions to hyperbolic systems (i.e. hyperbolic \(D_X\)-modules on the complexification \(X\) of a real analytic manifold \(M\)). Considered solutions can be hyperfunctions as well as distributions. To prove these existence theorems the authors use a general result giving a sufficient condition to get global propagation from the knowledge of the micro-support of the complex of sheaves \(R \operatorname {Hom}_{D_X}(N,B_M)\) where \(D_X\) is the sheaf of linear differential operators on \(X\), \(N\) is the given hyperbolic \(D_X\)-module and \(B_M\) is the sheaf of Sato's hyperfunctions on \(M\). The authors also prove that causal manifolds give examples of manifolds where previous results can be applied.
