Abstract: Let be a smooth contractible affine algebraic threefold with a nontrivial algebraic -action on it. We show that is rational and the algebraic quotient is a smooth contractible surface which is isomorphic to in the case when admits a dominant morphism from a threefold of form . Furthermore, if the action is free then is isomorphic to and the action is induced by translation on the second factor. In particular, we have the following criterion: if a smooth contractible affine algebraic threefold with a free algebraic -action admits a dominant morphism from then is isomorphic to .
